Sevard “Sevi” has been in a foster home since November 18, 2018. He is roughly 20 months old, DOB approx 10/10/2017. He was the last remaining pup after the Maddie’s Fund event that took place at Pet Network that November weekend. He had been picked up by the Carson City animal control at 9 months. He was on a “kill” list when Pet Network brought him up to Incline Village. He was in the shelter for 4 months before we opted to foster him.

Sevi has learned a lot since moving in with us. He is a much better behaved, and better trained dog since his first day here. I have spent many hours with him, and hired a professional trainer to help as well, and I feel he is much more adoptable after 7 months then he ever would’ve been if kept at the shelter.

He loves human contact, snuggling (in bed-only with my daughter’s!!) and he has a great understanding of commands. He loves to play and run around, and enjoys everyone that we welcome into our home. He gets overly excited over children, so only older, respectful kids. He is leash aggressive, so we either take him into remote locations for walks or get his zoomies out running around our large fenced in yard. He loves other dogs, but does not read dog language very well, so proper intro is imperative. Finding him the right play mate is a challenge. Not recommended with cats, as he seems to have a “hunting dog” instinct. He may be a mix of either Weimaraner or Rhodesian Ridge Back, as well as Pit. He has learned “find it” games that put his nose to the ground and gets him super focused.

More about Sevi: He is very energetic. He is on a lamb/rice formula food, due to chicken allergy and has sensitive skin. He does not like to be tethered to anything, as we learned this in one of his training sessions.

Poor Sevi has had a very rough start to his life. Hopefully the right home is out there for someone with dog experience looking for an active, loving companion.
